Exploring the Louvre can be intimidating for even the most seasoned of travellers. Where to start, which works to see and which to leave out? Once upon a time Louis XIV rode his horse around these very corridors so how could visitors be expected to do it all by foot?
Take the stress out of your visit by joining our Louvre tour which takes you past the long, snaking lines and into the heart of the museum. Once inside we will lead you on a carefully crafted Louvre tour of all the museum has to offer – from Antiquity to the 19th century and from the world’s most recreated artwork to some little-known gems.
Visit Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, make what you will of Michelangelo’s Slaves and swoon at Antonio Canova’s sculpture, Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss. In between the big-name acts admire the crown jewels and learn a little about French art and history as our guide explains the story of the Louvre itself, the significance of the painting Liberty Guides the People and why it was that The Raft of Medusa caused such a stir in its time.
Our Louvre tour is the most comprehensive guided visit available, offering visitors a chance to discover their favorite Louvre piece without spending an entire week trekking the corridors.
New! Consider our Evening Louvre Tour
There is a certain magic about visiting the Louvre in the evening. The corridors are quieter, the artwork is much more mysterious in low light and the atmosphere a lot more relaxed. The exterior of the Louvre is also especially breath-taking by night. Lit from below, the old palace appears stylish and contemporary. The dazzling Louvre pyramid reflects in the pond and lends it an air of glamour.
If you are more of a night owl than a morning person, or if you would just like to see the Louvre in a different light, why not consider our new late tour which runs at 6.30 PM every Wednesday and Friday? Apart from the late starting time (and smaller crowds) our evening tour takes in exactly the same itinerary as our other Louvre tours. To reserve your place just select the option “Group – English – 06:30PM” in the booking box when booking your tour on a Wednesday or a Friday.
